Vcall Kingmax Multi-Function Micro SD card reader adapter with OTG USB

Screen Shot 2015-01-29 at 6.54.33 PMThis is a very small and effective micro SD card reader. It is not always easy to transfer files from a micro SD card, even onto the mobile devices that have micro SD card slots. Oftentimes those slots are not very accessible, as is the case with many smartphones that position those slots inside the battery compartment. Event for devices which have an “external” micro SD card slot, that slot is often occupied by an extra “permanent” memory storage.

This little micro SD card reader enables you to connect your micro SD card to your phone or tablet through the micro USB cable slot. However, your phone or tablet needs to have enabled the OTG functionality, which (I’ve learned this the hard way) you can not take for granted. I’ve used this SD card reader to transfer files to my old Samsung Galaxy S3 phone, a generic Android 4.4 10″ tablet, and the 8″ Nextbook Windows 8 tablet. In each case the card reader worked flawlessly and without any issues. The card transfer rates were pretty high, as good as any other reader I’ve seen out there.

I’ve also used the card reader with the attached “regular” USB reader that can be inserted into any ordinary USB port. I’ve used it to transfer photos to my Mac Mini, and have had no issues with it. It performed as expected.

This is a small, light micro SD card reader that can come in handy for a variety of purposes. Recommended.
