August EP635 Bluetooth Wireless Stereo Headphones

Screen Shot 2013-10-14 at 2.52.50 PMI own several over-the-ear bluetooth headphones. Most of them are similar in design and intended function to these August headphones. I like taking them with me to a coffee shop when I am working, as they provide the best combination of comfort, sound quality and portability. These are a decent pair of headphones, but unfortunately their design leaves a lot to be desired.

First of all, the sound quality of these headphones was really good. It’s as good or even better than most bluetooth stereo headsets that I have tried. It produces rich, nuanced sound that everyone except a die-hard audiophile will find very enjoyable. I’ve had a few of my friends use them as well and they all enjoyed the sound quality.

If my review was solely based on the sound quality then these headphones would certainly merit five stars. However, in most other aspects they fall pretty short. The first thing I noticed about them was that the headphones’ heads don’t really rotate, which prevents them from adequately covering my ears. This, I think, is a pretty serious issue. Furthermore, the build quality of these headphones feels really cheap. I would not be surprised if parts of them break or stop functioning down the road. Finally, I wish that these headphones were collapsable – it would make them much more convenient to carry around with me, just like the similar Jabra headphones that I have.

Overall, these are decent headphones but there are many others out there that far outperform them in terms of design and build quality.
