AUDIOMAX Wireless Bluetooth 4.0 On-Ear Headphones

Screen Shot 2015-09-09 at 4.55.10 PMThese are very slick looking and affordable on-ear headphones. Overall I am pretty happy with them, but they do have their limitations. Here are some of my impressions.

**** Sound Quality ****

My first impression of the sound quality was very favorable. These headphones produce very strong, distinct sound. The mids and highs came through very clearly, but what really impressed me was the bass. It is very strong, especially for this size of headphones. This is a good sound signature if you are listening to a lot of music with a strong beat, but they will not make die-hard audiophiles too happy.

**** Design ****

This is probably the strongest feature of these headphones. They really look and feel pretty cool. There is a certain amount of retro-chic to them, especially with the (faux) leather covers. These are very stylish headphones that can be easily mistaken for some made by the much more famous brands. If you care about how you look while listening to the music in a trendy coffee shop, then these headphones will be a great accessory to have. They are also foldable, and hence easy to carry around.

**** Comfort and Fit ****

The headphones at first feel very soft and comfortable on your ears. However, after a while they can become a bit hard on your ears. I was not totally surprised by this – I am still to come across any headphones that I don’t mind using for more than one to two hours. The headband is pretty rigid, and yet the headphones tend to slide off if there is too much head motion. This makes them less than ideal for gym/workout use, but I was never into on-ear headphones for such activities anyways.

**** Functionality ****

These headphones use the Bluetooth 4 standard. This is the more power efficient standard than the previous ones, and it will not unnecessarily drain your batteries. The headphones were easy to pair, but they can only be paired with one device at the time. I was able to get between five to seven hours of battery life out of these headphones.

I like that the headphones have physical control button, instead of the touch-sensitive ones like some other models that I’ve used. These buttons are easy to access while the headphones are on your head.

I’ve tested the headphones as a headset for my phone. They work more or less fine, although I have never been a big fan of using Bluetooth headsets with my phone.

**** Conclusion ****

For the price, these are very good headphones. However, I believe that with just a little bit more work they could become a truly outstanding headset in its category.
