TaoTronics TT-SK02 Portable Bluetooth Speaker

Screen Shot 2015-03-25 at 4.56.46 PMI have used and tested several Bluetooth speakers, and I am still impressed with how far this category of devices has come in recent years. TaoTronics TT-SK02 is definitely one of the better ones in terms of sound quality. However, it is a bit overpriced compared to the similar speakers that I’ve come across.

Pairing this speaker was very straightforward. It was immediately recognized by both my iPhone 4S and my iPad. The connectivity was pretty good, about as good as you could expect from any Bluetooth device these days. I was able to stream music to it from the next room in my house, and in an open space it can be connected without any issues up to fifty feet or so.

The sound quality is very good. I’ve used it to listen to a few music genera that I usually listen to – classical, pop, electronic, alternative. It performed remarkably well in all of those categories. Both the high and low notes were very crisp and clear, and even the bass was pretty powerful for such a small package. The speaker could also get really loud, but I did not try to test it too hard in this category.

The speaker is nicely designed and it looks fairly elegant, especially the all-black one that I have. However, at a closer look the build quality is pretty average, and not something that can stand up next to the sleek speakers and accessories made by some other well known brand names. The speaker looks pretty durable, and at this point I don’t see it breaking down or having some other major issues due to its manufacturing quality.

This is not the smallest Bluetooth speaker that you’ll come across, but it’s still very portable and easy to place wherever you are.

The speaker comes with a rechargeable battery, which is a great feature in its own right and sets it apart from the competition. It’s charged through a USB cable, and it takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to have it fully charged. Speaker can last up to five hours on a single charge, depending on how loudly you play the music. It also comes with a small audio cable which you can use to connect it to phone jack of devices that don’t support Bluetooth.

TT-SK02 also supports the speakerphone feature, but as I am not a big fan of speakerphones I have not tested it in this regard.

If you are looking for a no-nonsense Bluetooth speaker with good sound, then you should consider TaoTronics TT-SK02 speaker. However, you can find several pretty good speakers like this one from other manufacturers that don’t cost nearly as much.
