New iPad Event Tomorrow

It seems that Apple is finally ready to announce the much anticipated iPad 3 (or whatever they decide to call it). The rumor mill has been in overdrive about this iteration of the world’s best tablet, and based on the experiences from the previous years there is a consensus of new features that most people expect to see. The most intriguing new feature is the rumored doubling of the iPad’s resolution, which will take it to the almost retina-display levels. A few other features that will most likely make it into iPad 3 are the improved processor, 8 MP camera, and a few other under the hood spec improvements. It will also be interesting to see if Apple finally introduces the 4G/LTE networking option for one of its mobile devices. If this were to happen, then the next generation of iPhone will almost certainly go 4G as well.

Aside from watching full-HD 1080p movies, the increased resolution will come in really handy for photo editing. So far neither Apple nor the creative software powerhouse Adobe have made any serious attempts at high-level photo editing software running on iOS. If tomorrow we get an announcement of a really cool iOS version of Aperture or Photoshop, as well as some easy way of uploading photos, then iPad could easily become an indispensable tool for all serious photographers.

Aside from iPad, it is possible that Apple also has a surprise announcement or two up its sleeve. According to many reports, 98% of all US stores are out of Apple TV. This could just mean that a new and improved version of the same device is on its way, but a possibility exists that Apple will finally introduce the grownup version of the same device. According to his biography, Steve Jobs was very actively working on this over the last few years, and he gave hints that Apple has finally cracked the puzzle of making TV as intuitive and easy to use as the rest of its products. So far, Apple TV has been no more than a “hobby” for the company, which is a reference to their panache for only entering new markets when they feel that they can revolutionize them and dominate them. So far that has certainly not been the case with Apple’s little hobby, but there is no reason to think that will remain the case in the future.
