Ivation Renewable/Rechargeable Wireless Mini Dehumidifier
I really hate humidity, and try to rid myself of it any way I can. Where I live summers can be really hot and oppressively humid, so O tend to spend most of my time indoors in well air conditioned areas. Even so, I still end up dealing with a fair amount of humidity.
I have used several air purifiers and dehumidifiers over the years. Ones that make the biggest difference are the large electro-mechanical ones that can really whisk the moisture out of air, bucketful at a time. Those are good for large rooms and other large areas. Their downsides are that they are noisy, generate a lot of heat, require a lot of electricity to operate, and require frequent emptying of the water collection bucket.
For smaller areas and in somewhat lower humidity a small “passive” dehumidifier like this one is an ideal device to use. It is really small, can be installed almost anywhere, and it requires no electricity for continuous operation. It works on the principle of moisture absorption by small crystals that change color as they become increasingly saturated with water. Once they are completely saturated they turn pink in color, and you can “discharge” them by plugging this unit into the wall outlet and letting it thermally release water over the period of about eight hours.
This unit is ideal for walk-in closets, storage areas, and small sheds. We’ve used it in one of our bigger closets and noticed the difference in air quality after just a day or two of use. The best of all, the closet did not smell mildly musty any more.
The dehumidifier looks very nicely designed and it feels pretty sturdy. I don’t expect it will see any extreme use in the upcoming years, but it’s reassuring that it doesn’t look like a product that will need a replacement in the near future. I also believe that it’s pretty reasonably priced for this kind of product.
