iGearPro USB Flash Drive Digital Audio Recorder

Screen Shot 2015-01-06 at 2.54.47 PMI have not used many dedicated voice recorders – my only experience so far has been with a small Sony recorder and a similarly built aLLreli recorder. Those two work really well, and I am overall very pleased with them. However, both of them are a bit bulky (relatively speaking), and the Sony one is on the pricey side.

This iGearPro USB recorder is very diminutive and versatile. It doubles as a USB storage stick, although at 4 GB it has rather low capacity. That capacity, however, is sufficient to record about 70 hours of voice

The quality of audio recordings that this recorder provides is pretty good. I would not recommend it for music recording, but for voice recordings it’s really good, especially in some of the higher recording rate settings.

The recorder is decently built and feels OK to hold. My Sony recorder still feels sturdier and better built, but not by much. As I said, it is really small, and it might be easy to lose, so be careful about where you store it. Its size, however, can be an asset if you are trying to do surreptitious recordings.

If you do need some of the specialized features that this recorder offers, yet don’t care about the professional quality sound, then this recorder might be a good choice. Especially is the size of the recorder is a major consideration for you. On the other hand, for very casual voice recording in a very simple and uncluttered environment I’d recommend that you just use the voice recording option on your smartphone.
