Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Screen Laptop

Screen Shot 2013-11-09 at 2.38.25 PMWe got this laptop as a gift even before our son was born, and for the first five or six months of his life it was just an amusing background item that provided sounds for his entertainment. Eventually he started taking more interest in its physical features – pressing buttons, sliding the “trackball,” opening and closing it, etc. Still, he would quickly get bored with it and then move onto his other “interests.” Things started changing dramatically once he was about one year old. That’s when he started to make more of a connection between different actions that he takes and the sounds and visual effects coming out of this toy laptop. Now he actually seeks it out and can play with it for an extended period of time. Our boy has always exhibited knack for digital devices and anything with buttons, and he certainly prefers the “real” gadgets. Nonetheless, this toy keeps him quite occupied for a while.

Overall I am very pleased with the build quality and physical design of this toy. It has survived well over a year of raugh handling and incessant bangings. It has a decent amount of “content,” but I do wish it had much more variety. Not so much for the sake of my son, as for the sake of parents – hearing the same noises and tunes for hours every day can get pretty tiring. I wish Fisher-Price would come up with some kind of way of downloading and updating their content. This could make this toy infinitely more versatile.
