BESTEK Key Chain Emergency Power Bank

Screen Shot 2015-01-02 at 4.28.04 PMI have recently switched to iPhone 6 Plus. That phone has an impressive battery life, especially compared to my old iPhone 4S. However, if I still forget to charge it at the end of the day I am in trouble the next day if I am away from convenient USB charging outlets.

I own several external batteries and power banks. Most of them work great, but with the exception of the smallest 2600 mAh power banks most of them are not convenient to carry around on you at all times. This is where this small convenient keychain-sized battery comes in handy. It can be attached inobtrusively to your keys, and

1000 mAh is enough power to charge most modern phones to about 25 – 35 % of their capacity. This is enough power for emergency situations, but is not a substitute for a proper full power bank. Furthermore, it takes a little while for a phone to be charged with any battery, including this one, so this battery will not help you make a phone call *immediately*.

On thing that I really like about this battery is that it includes a built-in iPhone lightning USB port. That means that you don’t need to carry an extra cable with you for charging. Unfortunately, that also means you won’t be easily able to charge any of your other devices that don’t use the lightning port. Furthermore, I don’t think that this device is Apple certified, and it’s possible that it might stop working with some future iPhone firmware upgrade.

I also like the in-built small laser pointer. I just wish the battery also had a small LED light as well.

Overall, this is a neat little backup battery that can really help you in an emergency when your iPhone loses all or most of its power.
