The Hoont Bright Outdoor LED Solar Spotlight

Screen Shot 2014-11-05 at 11.01.34 AMI got this light just in time for Halloween. Our simple and cheap scarecrow looked pretty cool during the day, but at night could really not be seen. This little spotlight managed to make it very visible, and then some. I was skeptical about this light at first, as in my experience most of these solar-powered lights are not very powerful. However, this one really exceeded my expectations in terms of brightness. The light it emits is pretty strong and crisp. As I am now getting ready to put out Christmas decorations, this light will come in handy with the kinds of decorations that otherwise I probably wouldn’t have contemplated.

Unfortunately, this light doesn’t last all night. It turns on by itself at dusk, and stays turned on until at least the midnight. However, at five am it is already turned off.

The large solar panel that is responsible for this light’s high level of brightness also makes it a bit too conspicuous. It’s not that much of an issue for me, but it’s definitely something to keep in mind when deciding on the kind of spotlight you might want to install.

The spotlight is decently built. It’s not the highest quality such product that I have come across, but so far it has been able to hold its own. It was very easy to inset into the soft ground, and it withstood several heavy rains so far. It will be interesting to find out if it will be able to last through the harsh Midwestern winter.
