Tek Republic TUH-200 USB 3.0 +2.0 4 Port Hub
This is a very decent looking, compact and useful mini USB hub. It is meant to add three additional USB 2.0 ports to a single USB 3.0 port. Both the USB 3.0 and (obviously) 2.0 ports are backward compatible with the USB 2.0 and USB 1.0 devices. The strip, however, does not come with an external power source, something that is common for most high-end USB 3.0 hubs I’ve used and reviewed.
The ports seem to be working as advertised. I’e only tested this hub with my Mac computers, although it should be compatible with Windows and Linux machines. The transfer speeds seem to be within the parameters for the given USB standards, although I have not done any precise quantitative benchmarking. The hub is made of plastic, but it seems durable and well-made. It is compact and easy to carry around – it’s about twice the size of a larger USB stick.
This product is particularly suitable for people on the go who have just one USB 3.0 external device and several older USB 2.0 devices. It helps you attach all of your legacy devices while you are away from your desk. It can also serve the purpose of attaching the USB devices to your desktop at home, but its short cord means that you will have to connect them in a very tight little space close to your computer.
