Starry Solar Lights – Cool White LED’s on Copper Wire
This is one of the most elegant and simple strings of lights that I’ve come across. The embedded LED lightbulbs are very small and unobtrusive, yet they are very bright. The 120 lightbulbs are strung together on a 20 ft long thin double copper wire that is lacquered but otherwise looks exposed. At first the idea of using what looked like a long exposed copper wire for decoration seemed odd and tacky, but when I put it on my front porch patio and turned on the lights I could immediately see that we had a winner. The lights were glimmering with crisp white color that very nicely matched the surrounding wire. They really work well in conjunction with each other.
The advantages of using a solid copper wire instead of a regular electric connecting wire are numerous. Copper wire is very flexible, and yet it can be put into a fixed shape of one’s choosing. It can rigidly adhere to any structure or constraint that one puts it onto, and is thus very pliable and can serve many creative purposes. The lacquered finish also ensures that the lights can be used outdoors, and the solar panel power source lets you keep these lights on the year round. I’ve put these lights up for this year’s Christmas decoration, but I am seriously considering keeping them around for decorative purposes year round. These lights really add charm and character to your home’s outdoors decorations. I would just recommend that you put them somewhere where they can be exposed to a lot of sunlight during the daytime hours.
