Satechi USB Portable Humidifier

Screen Shot 2014-04-03 at 1.59.42 PMI live in an area that is pretty humid for the most of the year, so humidifiers are among the last products that I need. However, during the winter months the air even here can get pretty dry, resulting in itchy eyes, dry skin, and chapped lips. For those situations any amount of relief comes in handy, and this small humidifier seems to fit the bill.

I am still amused to see that most small electronic devices have started using USB as the main source of power these days. A few years ago there was a fake advertisement in The Onion for a USB toaster. I’m afraid that these days that joke wouldn’t work half as well. Joking aside, the USB standard works very well as a power source. It ensures that you would be able to use this humidifier in a variety of situations, either by connecting it to your cell phone’s power supply, or by using a portable power bank.

The humidifier is very small and easy to carry with you. It provides a substantial amount of water mist as it operates, and after a few hours of use in my office I noticed that I am reaching for my chapstick far less frequently. The humidifier fits very easily on top of a water bottle. One water bottle will last you the entire day in my experience. The top of the humidifier has small blue LED light which emits cool glow. I would particularly recommend this humidifier for people who spend a lot of time in small, confined spaces such as dorm rooms, cubicles, camping tents, etc.
