SanDisk Connect 64G Wireless Media Drive Streaming On the Go
Since becoming parents recently, I’ve been starting to take interest in on-the-go media solutions, especially for long car rides. Since acquiring the iPad a few years back, I have essentially been guaranteed never to be without a media player anywhere I go. However, getting the right content for the iPad can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. Of course, the iTunes store is there, but there are so many other media files that I’d be happy to access but are not easily transferable to my favorite iOS device.
This SanDisk Media Drive seems to be the perfect solution for my portable media-consuming needs. It’s capacious, pretty versatile, and easy to access from almost any WiFi enabled device. I was able to load it with several HD movies, and through the use of SanDisk’s app view them on several devices simultaneously. The whole process was pretty straightforward, and hassle-free.
The SD card slot is also a great feature. It allows me to view and share photos from my Canon DSLR while on the go. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work well with the camera raw files, nor does it allow me to transfer my photos directly to the Media Drive. I am hoping that the future software upgrades will remedy some of these shortcomings.
I would also wish that this Media Drive were more versatile when it comes to viewing and sharing of non-media file types. These can still be access, but this feature is not as straightforward as the other ones. I also with that the drive had attached USB cables, which would make it a much more self-contained device.
Overall, this is a pretty good media-streaming device that does what it’s meant to do very well. With a few improvements this could be a truly amazing and versatile file-sharing device that goes well beyond its niche application.
