Rubik’s 3X3 Cube – Product Review

I got my first Rubik’s Cube when I was a boy. It was at the same time an intriguing, educational, and frustrating toy. At one point I finally learned how to solve it, but have not played with one of these for years. On a whim I decided to check it out again and bought one of these on Amazon. I am really glad that I did, as I’ve immeasurably enjoyed solving this cube again.

This cube is very well made and it feels solid and durable. It is fairly light and the sections are loose enough that they are easy to move around, yet not so loose that they would not stay in place on their own. The central tile on the white side of the cube carries the small Rubik’s Cube logo. At first I was a bit annoyed with this feature – it spoils the pristine simplicity of all the sides. However, after playing with it for a while I got used to it. The package also comes with a small plastic stand that lets you position the cube on one of its vertices. This loos kind of neat and gives your cube a bit of character when it’s left on a shelf.

There have been many variations on the theme of Rubik’s Cube over the years, but in my mind only the original has the right amount of difficulty and elegance. This is truly a classic puzzle that has aged remarkably well.
