rooCASE iPad Mini Slim Shell Origami Case

Screen Shot 2013-12-16 at 2.42.31 PMThis is a very light, effective and ingeniously designed iPad Mini case. iPad Mini is a great device, but it could certainly use some protection while being schlepped around in a bag or a backpack. This case provides exactly that – sturdy and resilient protection, while not adding significantly to the bulk. It also allows you to prop up your iPad Mini in either landscape or portrait mode. This is accomplished through the use of an original and innovative “origami” folding design – the otherwise flat case cover folds into a space-filling shape that works as a supporting structure. The support works very well, much better than I thought from the pictures. It’s pretty stable and sturdy. In landscape mode it can even support light typing, which comes in very hand.

The outside of the case is built out of synthetic leather, while the inside is lined with some kind of microfiber. This soft padding will give iPad Mini an extra layer of soft protection, but it will also attract dust and grime. I am not sure how easy it would be to clean though – I usually replace my tablet covers every year to two years, so this kind of issue is not a big deal to me. The case is sturdy enough to protect your iPad Mini from accidental scratches and bumps, but it will probably not be too effective against big drops or really hard impacts.

The case also looks fairly elegant, although the grey color can feel a bit drab. I also think that it’s fairly competitively priced at $20, and a worthwhile investment for anyone looking for a good functional iPad Mini case.
