OS X Mountain Lion Absolute Beginner’s Guide – Book Review
Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) is as of this writing the latest iteration of Apple’s revolutionary operating system. It is the operating system that comes preinstalled on all Macs, and it is the interface through which you get to interact with your computer. Like all other editions of OS X, it combines the ease of use with a powerful and stable underlying Unix-based engine.
This absolute beginner’s guide aims to take some mystery out of the Mountain Lion. It is written with a regular user in mind, and it is a very accessible and convenient little book. It covers all the important topics that any Mac user would come across: setting up your preferences, navigating the file system, using applications and customizing the dock, working with media, using some of the more common apps and utilities, printing and troubleshooting. The book is easy to navigate and it also makes a handy reference. Personally I would have preferred if the author used more screenshots, as well as if this book were in color. Those two features would have definitely greatly enhanced the accessibility and the intuitiveness of the explanations.
Overall, this is a very well written and useful guide to Mac and OS X 10.8, Mountain Lion.
