Not Your Grandfather’s Paper Airplane

powerup-30-leadEver since I first heard of Kickstarter I have been totally hooked up on its premise – small-scale outsourcing of funding by tapping into the crowds. It democratized funding of various projects and enabled products to reach the market that previously would have been really hard, if not impossible, to make. It also enabled, at least in theory, everyone to become an entrepreneur – with the right idea, ability to execute (this one is a big one actually) and willingness to market yourself organically through social media anyone can start their own small company or business.

Today I came across another fun Kickstarter project that would probably never seen the light of day were it not for the crowdfunding approach. It’s a small battery powered module that lets you add power and remote control (via Bluetooth) to your paper airplanes. It’s such a small and silly thing that might actually be feasible. It combines the simplicity of paper airplanes with the high-tech of the latest power and remote control electronics. I really hope these guys reach their funding goal of $50,000. If this is something that you find interesting, I would urge you to please consider funding this project.
