Newisland 3x3x3 Speed Cube

Screen Shot 2014-08-01 at 5.54.29 AMI always liked the Rubik’s cube, and although I never completely mastered it I would pick it up every once in a while and try to solve it the best I can. The traditional Rubik’s cubes can be pretty stiff sometimes, and their faces are covered with small multi-colored stickers. I was not too concerned with either one of those two issues for the most part. However, when my infant got a hold of my old Rubik’s cube and tried his teeth on it I quickly saw how unsightly the partially peeled stickers can get. So I was really eager to try a stickerless version of the cube.

This Newisland speed cube is really a fun little cube. It is very light, the stiskerless design is indeed very visually appealing, and the rotating action is incredibly smooth. The cube seems to be well made and durable. I am in no hurry to join a speed solving competition any time soon, but even an amateur can really appreciate this innovative and fun design. Who knows, it may even spur me to finally master this puzzle for good.
