Microsoft announces Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop

Screen Shot 2013-08-15 at 10.25.29 AMMicrosoft has not had much luck lately with their new products, and it’s too easy to jump on the bandwagon and trash everyone’s favorite whipping horse. The company is well past its glory days, and it is likely that they will continue to operate in the environment where they are just one of the big players in tech, and by no means the most dominant one. However, aside from their beleaguered consumer operating system, they have made many really good products over the years. Surprisingly, especially for the company that has pretty much single handedly made the software industry into what it is today, some of my favorite Microsoft products are actually in hardware. In particular, I have for a really long time been a big fan of their keyboards and even more so of their mice. They don’t have the simplistic cool look of the Apple peripherals, but in terms of pure usability and ergonomics they leave a lot to be desired. In my opinion Microsoft PC peripherals are the best ones on the market, beating even those made by Logitech. So I was really excited about the news of the upcoming Sculpt Ergonomic Desktop. It looks slick and ergonomic. I have not had a chance to play with it, nor do I plan to buy it any time soon, but it’s definitely on my list of products that I’d love to own one day.
