Mac Pro

dsc00048-1372517910There was an interesting little piece on Engadget yesterday – a reflection really – about the upcoming new Mac Pro. Apple has for too many years neglected to improve and innovate with its once premieare line of computers, which was driving many high-end users and the professional creative types nuts. These machines are increasingly irrelevant to Apple’s bottom line, and many have wondered if Apple would eventually ditch them altogether, the way they ditched their line of servers. However, for strategic as well as the branding purposes giving up on the whole creativity image that Apple has so diligently cultivated for decades would be tantamount to the brand suicide.

The new Mac Pros are indeed a very dramatic departure from their predecessors, but in the line with Apple’s ongoing desire to streamline their products’ outward appearance and make them smaller and more effective at what they do. Alas, these new machines will not be available until “the Fall,” and even though they look impressive and intriguing, we won’t know what their pricing will be or how good of a machine they are. I was hoping that the above-mentioned article might shed some light on these topics, but unfortunately it still remained largely speculative and devoid of details. I guess we’ll just have to wait a few more months before these beautiful “cans” become available.
