iDeaUSA 7″ Quad Core Android 4.4 KitKat Tablet
This is a very neat and fairly usable small tablet. As a $55 tablet you should not have overly high expectations from it, but it still delivers on its basic premise. The tablet is fairly small, and easy to hold. It’s an ideal inexpensive tablet to give to a kid. (Although they too are getting pretty savvy these days and increasingly insisting on having an iPad level tablet. 🙂 ) The tablet runs Android, and for the most part it looks and feels like other Android tablets I’ve used.
The tablet’s screen is decent for this size device, but it’s not the brightest nor the sharpest screen that I have come across. It features two cameras. They are good enough for taking spontaneous casual shots, or for Skypeing. The 8 GB of onboard memory gets used up fairly quickly, especially if you load up media files and games. Fortunately, the tablet’s storage can be expanded with the built-in micro SD card slot, up to additional 32 GB.
Unlike many other similar tablets, this one features an HDMI port. This means that it can be easily connected to an external monitor or TV. With an addition of a Bluetooth media keyboard, it can double as a media center PC. However, it is still pretty limited in the quality of signal it puts out, and I wouldn’t use it as my primary streaming media device. I would also recommend that you keep it plugged in into a 2A USB power supply while using it for such purposes.
I’ve used this tablet for some light web browsing, article and book reading, and for my Social Media addiction. It worked well for those needs. It’s also pretty good for light gaming and e-mailing, but I would not use it for content creation (writing papers, editing photos and videos, etc.) Overall, it’s a pretty good device that serves its purposes well.
