HDMI to AV Composite RCA CVBS Video + Audio Converter

Screen Shot 2014-04-26 at 4.22.36 PMHDMI has become the de-facto standard for almost all video-signal carrying devices today. However, there are still some older TVs out there that function fine but have no HDMI inputs. If those TVs support the RCA component input, then a small converter like this one can really come in handy.

The converter powered though a micro USB cable. If any one of your connected devices has a power-carrying USB output slot, then you can just connect it directly to this converter. Otherwise, you can always use one of the spare USB power supplies that you got form one of your smartphones.

I used this converter with an old 37″ Westinghouse TV and a new-ish LG Blu-Ray player. The output was solid, on par with what I’d expect from such an old TV. The picture was clear, and even though the resolution was not as high as on my new full-HD TV, the viewing experience was definitely better than what i had been getting from a DVD player.

The little converter box seems solidly built. It comes with a USB cable and a small instruction booklet. It was shipped from the US, and it arrived fairly quickly. The price seems pretty good, especially considering that it will enable you to extend the useful life for my old TV.
