Google Game Box and Embedded Android

google-nexus-q-xl-640x426Several articles in the last day or so have broken the news that Google is working on an Android-based gaming device and a watch. (See for instance this Wall Street Journal article.)In some ways this is Google’s way of preempting the projected future products from Apple, but it also signals that the future versions of Android will be compatible with a wider range of devices than just the smartphones and tablets. This will be a great thing for all the hackers and developers out there. I personally would love it if some developer comes up with an Android version of Arduino or Raspberry Pi-like device.
