Gogogu Electric Carbon Monoxide Alarm Detection with Digital LED Display

Screen Shot 2014-06-17 at 1.22.25 PMI have never used a carbon monoxide detector before. However, since most of my big energy-hungry appliances run on gas, and my home has an attached garage, having one is probably a really good idea. This is why I was happy to try out and test this detector.

The good news about this detector is that it definitely works. Following a suggestion by another reviewer I decided to place the detector next to my car’s exhaust, and sure enough within seconds the alarm went loudly off. The display also immediately showed the detected concentration of carbon monoxide (about 145 ppm). I am not sure how well the detector would work with much lower concentrations, but it’s very reassuring to know that it does work really well with these very clear-cut cases.

The detector is pretty loud, and the test button can be used to see the sound level. It is definitely loud enough to wake up anyone within a moderately sized house.

I wish the detector came with some clear and easy-to-follow instructions. If you’ve ever installed anything on your wall, and have even the basic modicum of DIY skills, then the installation even without the instructions should not be a problem for you. However, for people with no experience some clear set of instructions would have been useful.

This is not the best built detector out there, and the plastic materials are a bit on the cheap side. However, it gets the job done. I guess the biggest endorsement for it that I can make is that I now rely on it for the protection of my home and my family.
