Fluid Catalytic Cracking Handbook – Book Review

Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) is the most important conversion process used in the petroleum refineries. This reference book gives a very comprehensive and accessible overview of FCC and would be a very useful resource for all the professionals in that field.

This is a very well put together book that covers all of the essential FCC topics. The chapters in this book include “FCC Feed Characterization,” “Catalyst and Feed Additives,” “Chemistry of FCC Reactions,” “Products and Economics,” “Troubleshooting,” “Emissions,” and many others. The chapters are organized thematically, and the book follows a coherent theme of exposition of various areas. Nonetheless, it is possible to use the chapters, or event eh subsections, out of sequence as the need arises for any given reference material. Each chapter contains numerous tables, graphs, diagrams, and other useful information that makes this book very informative. Where applicable worked-out examples are given and these help facilitate the learning process. This book can be used either as a textbook or a reference work.
