Epson C11CC87201 Expression Home XP-410 Wireless Color Inkjet Printer with Scanner and Copier
On the surface this low-end all-in-one Epson printer seems to have all the things you would expect from such a device: document and picture printing, wireless connectivity, built-in screen for computer-free printing, as well as fax and scanning options. For me the most exciting option was the AirPrint compatibility – I am increasingly relying on my iOS devices to read and sometimes create content, and being able to directly print something while I am still on my iPad is a great asset. However, I quickly realized that AirPrint is pretty much the only truly good thing about this printer. Document printing was OK for the most part, although some documents that I downloaded (or viewed) online took a too long to print, and when they did the blacks were not all that sharp. Scanning a document took forever. The biggest disappointment was the photo printing. I tried printing a few of my pictures, and they came out looking awful – completely washed out and grainy. I could not have been more disappointed.
If you just care about printing a document or two, especially from your iOS or other mobile devices, then this printer could in principle do the job. All of its other features could be used in an “emergency” situation as well (you really, really need to make a photo copy of a document right now), but they leave a lot to be desired. If I were looking for an all-in-one low-end printer I would definitely steer clear of this one.
