Energetic3 Battery Backup with built in Lightning and Micro USB Cables

Screen Shot 2014-02-24 at 10.07.52 AMThe most significant feature of this battery charger, and the one that, as far as I know, distinguishes it from all other chargers on the market right now, is the inclusion of both micro USB *and* lighting attached cables. One of the most annoying things that I have to deal with while traveling with my consumer electronics devices is the constant need to juggle multiple charging and connectivity cables. They are easily misplaced, and tend to get tangled up. I’ve seen a few external batteries that include an attached micro USB cables, but since I am primarily an iOS device user, those have very limited utility for me. That’s why I was so excited when I came across Energetic3 – in terms of its features, it’s an almost perfect external charger.

In order to test this battery charger I decided to completely drain my small electronic devices so that I get as clean of an idea of this battery’s efficiency as I can. I discover that I was able to fully charge all of my small electronic devices with plenty of power to spare. Full charging usually takes between one to two hours. I’ve tested this battery with iPhone 4S, iPhone 5S, , Kindle Paperwhite, Mobee Magic Bar, and Jabra SPORT Bluetooth Stereo Headset . Finally, I’ve done the “iPad Test”: I tried to fully charge my iPad (First Generation) (32GB, Wifi + 3G), and I was indeed completely successful in that regard with plenty of power to spare. I am fully confident that it would also charge the latest iPads and other tablets, as the 8400 mAh is more than the capacity of most tablet devices sold out there. Oftentimes I was able to fully charge two or three devices with just one Energetic3 fully charged battery. I was also able to charge two devices simultaneously.

In terms of overall design, Energetic3 does not look all that distinguished. It’s literally shaped like two iPhone 4/4S stacked one upon the other. Its rubberized outer surface looks OK, but it’s sporting a decidedly industrial look.

One thing that would make this charger perfect in my eyes, at least as far as the main features are concerned, would be an inclusion of attached retractable wall outlet prongs. External battery like that, one that has no need for additional cables, would truly be one that I would love to take with me anywhere I travel. Hope that some manufacturer comes up with a device like that soon.
