Elvish Model C Wireless Doorbell

Screen Shot 2014-11-05 at 2.30.25 PMThis is a very simple yet well made wireless doorbell. This is a very convenient way of replacing your standard-issue home doorbell with something that is more versatile and far-reaching. One of the best things about this doorbell is that it requires virtually no complicated installation. If you want to you can just tape it to your door with the included two-sided tape. If you are a bit more adept with tools you can also screw it to the door or wall. You absolutely don’t ever have to deal with electrical wiring.

One of the main selling points of this doorbell is its range. I often find myself working in the back yard, and unable to hear someone at the front door if they ring the doorbell. With this small and portable device that is never an issue. I tested it all the way in the very back of my yard, and it worked. The advertised range is 1000 ft, but I have not been able to test it that far.

The doorbell and the receiver are pretty well built. I am not sure how weather-resistant the doorbell is though. I guess the time will tell.

If there is one improvement that I would like to see with this product that would be making it Bluetooth enabled and releasing an API interface. I think that a product like this one is potentially infinitely hackable, and there could be all sorts of possible additional functions for it.
