Edison – Intel’s Really Cool Micro PC

Screen Shot 2014-01-07 at 1.44.30 PMOne of the coolest devices that have been announced around this years’ CES is Edison – Intel’s tiny SD-card-sized micro PC. Intel is taking the whole wearable computing revolution very seriously it seems, and is all set to provide tinkerers and developers with a very easy-to-use and modular architecture to use. I believe that this tiny device has a great potential. There are generations of programmers already familiar with programming on Intel’s PC architecture, and it seems to me that this kind of development is much easier to pull off than the kind required for Android and other open-source mobile platforms. Edison will not be available until at least this summer, and there is still no word on pricing or whether it will use the already established SD card connectivity for much of its operation.
