Cybersecurity and Cyberwar: What Everyone Needs to Know – Book Review

This is a very engaging and informative introduction to cybersecurity and cyberwarfare. These topics have been getting a lot of spotlight lately, and they are only going to be more prominent in the upcoming years. Unfortunately, these topics are also accompanied by a lot of hype, and it’s oftentimes hard to distinguish between real threats and the exaggerated ones. This books goes a long way in making the distinction between the two, but ultimately it will all boil down to individual judgements. The most sensible attitude to take is to be aware and cognizant of all manner of cyberthreats out there. On a personal level we should all treat own own personal security the same way we treat our health and physical security. We should dedicate the same amount of care and resources to it, especially considering how increasingly important our digital lives are becoming. On the other hand we should be weary of all sorts of exaggerated claims that a cyber equivalent of World War III is just around the corner.
