CH Hanson 03040 Magnetic Stud Finder
For years I got away with mounting small stuff on walls without really paying attention to the exact location of supporting beams. I mostly mounted pictures and other light objects, so the exact location of wooden beams was not much of an issue. However, recently I decided to mount a flat screen TV, so “winging it” was no longer an option. I needed the exact location of beams, so I looked at various options for stud finders on Amazon. This one seems to fit my needs perfectly – small, inexpensive, and effective. So far my experience with it has been exactly along the lines of what I had expected. The stud finder was able to quickly find studs, and helped me align the mounting holes perfectly. The magnets inside are pretty strong, and you can leave it on the wall for the times when you are not using it. I would strongly recommend this stud finder for all casual DIY-types out there.
