Case Logic ETC-110 Folio for 10-Inch iPad/2 Tablet – Product Review

I’ve used several cases for my first generation iPad. Some of them have had some good qualities, but I am still looking for a case that I would be completely happy. My ideal case would have a relatively modest size, be sturdy enough to protect my iPad under most circumstances, allow the iPad to be propped up in landscape AND portrait orientations, and make it extremely easy to slip the iPad in an out. On the outset CaseLogic iPad/tablet case seemed to fit most of the parameters that I was looking for. It is certainly feels the most sturdy of all the iPad cases that I’ve seen. However, it is rather bulky and large enough to fit even a smallish netbook. It also doesn’t provide the support for the portrait orientation. The bungee-cord solution for securing the iPad seemed like a very good idea for the ease of access, but it turned out to be anything but. It took me forever to secure my iPad. I tried several different approaches, and having opposite corners secured first seems to work the best, but overall placing iPad into this case is a major pain. Furthermore, one of the bungee cords tends to depress the iPad’s on/off button. This is a major design flaw. The iPad also didn’t feel terribly secured in the case. I haven’t tried swinging it around to test its limits, but it certainly doesn’t instill confidence. I might use this case around the house, but would certainly not rely on it for any form of travel. Which completely defeats the purpose of having an iPad case in the first place.

Overall I am usually extremely satisfied with CaseLogic products, but this case is definitely a complete dud.
