BESTEK iPhone 6 Battery Case

Screen Shot 2015-01-16 at 4.30.51 PMThe battery life of iPhone has increased over the years. This is especially true of the latest generation of iPhones, which have thanks to their significantly larger size significantly leapfrogged their predecessors in terms of battery capacity. Along the physical capacity increase, there has been a steady stream of improvement in the iOS designed to make it more energy efficient. Nonetheless, I am rarely able to go for more than a day without recharging my phone, even with a very light telephony use. I have several external batteries and power banks that I carry around with me at all times, but they can be annoying to pull out and use, especially if I am constantly on a move. This Bestek battery case is an ideal product to have for iPhone power users, but only if you don’t mind the extra bulkiness that it provides.

The Bestek case looks and feels very well designed. It sits comfortably in your hand, although you will certainly notice the extra bulk. All of the iPhone’s ports and controls are easily accessible. The case channels the audio output from iPhone’s own speakers to the small speaker-like openings of its own.

The 3100 mAh battery capacity is on par with iPhone’s own battery. Use of this Bestek Case will double the lifespan of your iPhone. Charging itself was very quick and effective. The back cover features a very handy battery capacity indicator in the form of four small LED lights. This is a very accessible way of ascertaining the battery’s total charge while on the go.

To the best of my knowledge this battery case is not Apple certified. This could be an issue if Apple updates iOS in such a way that this case stops functioning properly. You might want to keep this in mind.

Another issue that I have with this iPhone case is that it uses the micro USB port for its charging and data transfer. This is an odd choice of charging input. iPhone charging case that doesn’t use the lightning cable is also not a very appealing marketing move. This choice of charging input will mean that you will not be able to sue any of the iPhone specific accessories and stands (like some external speakers for instance) that you might have. Many of them, however, would have been made useless thanks to the thickness of this case anyways.
