Best Buy Sucks
After a few weeks of false starts, cancellations, misinformation, and all sorts of other confusion, the Best Buy guys finally showed up this morning for the dishwasher installation. And then they promptly discovered that they are unable to do the installation because the water pipe hookup runs to the crawl space, and they “are not allowed to go there.” It turns out that their $20 installation service in fact gets you nothing. Best Buy = Worst Value.
For most of my consumer electronics needs I go to Amazon, or sometimes eBay. Over the years I’ve become less and less reliant on physical “brick and mortar” stores. Sure, every once in a while I would stroll into one of these and check out the selection, but I am using these stores as a showroom and would still shop online for the best deal (not to mention check out customer reviews). I’ve relied on Best Buy for major appliance as they seemed to offer the convenience of quick local delivery and inexpensive installation services. Their installation price was much lower than what we were quoted in the appliance store in our town, but it turned out to be just a mirage and not the real deal.
At this point I am not sure what to do. I wish we lived in the part of US where services like TaskRabbit were readily available – this seems like an ideal job for one of their cheap, efficient and reliable Task Rabbits. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. One thing I know, though, is that from now on I’ll entirely shun Best Buy and their services. Not worth the trouble.
