SANOXY Webcam
I bought this camera on a whim, since I saw it on sale here for about $5. I still remember the days when webcams were a novelty and luxury item, so being able to get one for what was essentially price that’s too low to matter was irresistible.
The camera for its part has pretty decent basic picture quality. It features the VGA quality resolution, so it will not necessarily be of any use for high-def moviemaking. The camera is compatible with both of my Windows 7 and Mac computers, and have not had any problems installing it. I’ve done just a basic test Skype call, and it worked fine. Have not had a chance to do any extensive testing though.
I am now considering using this webcam for all sorts of unconventional purposes or projects – turning it (with a help of some other components) into an IP camera, buying a whole bunch of these and using them for innovative visual effects, etc. If you have any other ideas, please let me know.
The main problem with items like this one that I’ve been buying on Amazon is that they ship from China, and delivery can take a really long time. Since I did not urgently need this webcam (or at all for that matter), this was not much of an issue for me. But you might want to consider this caveat in case you are shopping for a webcam that you need ASAP.
