Kingston 8 GB Class 4 SDHC Flash Memory Card SD4/8GB – Product Review
I got this SD memory card for my Canon Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP Digital SLR Camera with EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens (Black). I had been using a 4 GB and 2 GB cards for years, which worked fine, but recently I started taking more pictures in camera RAW format which take up considerably more storage space. Ideally I would like to have a card that I can use the whole day even for the most intense shooting trips, and this card fits that bill. 8 GB turns out to be more than sufficient for over 350 camera RAW formatted photographs, or for over 1300 on the regular fully automated settings.
Aside from the storage capacity, I was very interested in the upload/download speeds, and in this regard I was also extremely pleased. When I plugged this card directly into the SD slot on my laptop I was able to transfer large files to it at the rate of 6.5 MB/s, and when I used a USB adapter the speed actually went up to 9.5 MB/s. The transfer of files from the card onto the computer was even faster, with speeds reaching 15 MB/s with a USB adapter. These speeds were 50-100% higher than for my old 2 GB card.
Finally, the price of this card is really competitive, and I have been pleased that in no way indicates the low quality of the product. It is really amazing how affordable high-quality solid state data storage has become over the years. I am sure that this card will be more than sufficient for all of my needs for several years, and am equally confident that when I eventually replace it the price of storage will come down a notch of two again.
