Dyson DC35 Animal Digital Slim Cordless Vacuum Cleaner with Pet Hair Tool – Product Review

Small cordless vacuum cleaners are incredibly versatile and useful daily tools. Their ease of use and accessibility make them a cleaning tool of choice for quick touch-up vacuuming, or for the vacuuming of small spaces – studio apartments, workshops, and vehicles. They are very easy to spontaneously pick up and use, and they make even people like me, who are always averse to vacuum, willing to do some light vacuuming.

I’ve owned a Dyson upright vacuum cleaner for years, and have absolutely loved its technology. The bagless vacuum cleaner is one of those revolutionary inventions that completely changes the way you use a familiar device. It has great suction and it makes it mush more likely to use as the disposal of the accumulated dust is mindlessly easy. So when I had a chance to try out a handheld Dyson vacuum it was a no-brainer for me. I wanted to see what a scaled-down version of Dyson would feel like, and how it would compare both to the full-scale version, as well as to the other handheld vacuum cleaners. So far I’ve been really pleased, but this vacuum cleaner is definitely not for everyone.

The vacuum is very light, easy to hold and carry, and very comfortable in your hand. It comes with several extensions and attachments for various cleaning jobs. One of the attachments is even powered for a better brushing action. The extension tube lets you use this vacuum as an upright vacuum cleaner, albeit with a much-reduced suction compared to the “real thing.” However, I would not recommend using this vacuum cleaner as a primary vacuum for anything but the studio and small one-bedroom apartments.

The single charging of the vacuum can last for either two or four minutes, depending on the power setting. The vacuum comes with a handy recharging cradle which doubles as a holder for all the add-ons.

The suction is definitely good enough for small-scale jobs, and it even compares favorably to some corded vacuums that I’ve used.

Disposing of the dust is as easy and convenient as it is on all the other Dyson vacuums I’ve tried. The only potentially messy part is the filter, which needs to be replaced only occasionally.

One of the disappointments with this vacuum was the quality of some parts. The felt strip at the bottom of one of the brush add-ons came off after just a few uses.

This is definitely the best and the most usable handheld vacuum cleaner that I’ve ever come cross. However, its rather steep price is a major deterrent for a wider adoption. I still have my older “regular” handheld vacuum cleaner, and in terms of effectiveness I don’t find it much inferior to the Dyson one. If don’t feel like splurging on a vacuum cleaner then I’d recommend you look into many of the sub-$100 vacuums that are available out there. However, if you want to get the best that’s available then you will not go wrong by buying this little vacuuming monster.
