Battling RC Robot Pair

Screen Shot 2014-12-02 at 11.03.12 AMThis is a really neat and dynamic toy. These are not, by any stretch of the imagination, the most advanced or sophisticated robots out there. Tye are very limited in terms of how many degrees of freedom and ranges of motion they have. Nonetheless, for their basic purpose of the battle play for which they are designed, they are quite adequate. The robots come with remotes that rely on kinetic action of your hands and arms to work. This is a really neat mechanism IMHO. Each thrust of the remote extends robot’s arm and propels him forward. This, in fact, is the only way of moving the robots. It’s not very precise or efficient, so you’ll spend a lot of time waving your arms just trying to get the robots to engage. Once they do engage, though, their fight is a lot of fun. It’s even fun to watch.

The build quality of these robots is OK. One of them has lost one small part, but we were able to re-attach it more or less. There are also some quirks in terms of the software (registering a hit is not very accurate). However, for the money this is till a pretty good toy that can be a lot of fun for both the parents and the kids.
