rooCASE Ultra-Slim (Black) Vegan Leather Folio Case for Amazon Kindle Paperwhite
I am a big fan of Kindle covers and cases for one simple reason: the Kindle “screen” is very fragile, and I have already broken two Kindles because of this. So over the years I’ve become very cautious about leaving my Kindle “exposed,” especially if I am taking it with me in a bag or in any other manner. So the first thing I look for when I buy a new Kindle is a protective sleeve.
I am not a big fan of reading cases in which you permanently keep your Kindle. One of my favorite things about Kindle is its lightweight and very compact size. Those features make for almost effortless holding experience. However, this particular rooCase makes it very easy to insert your Kindle and take it out, so it can be used both as a case, as well as a protective sleeve while going about with my Kindle.
The case is a bit thicker than I would have liked, but it’s otherwise very handsome. When closed it resembles a Moleskine notebook, albeit without the fastening strip on the side. The black faux leather looks nice enough and is pleasant to a touch. The interior is covered with microfiber, and it feels soft and protective.
As already mentioned, it’s very easy to insert Kindle inside and take it out. The clasp that keeps Kindle from falling out does not fasten to anything, but uses clever design to secure the Kindle. The case leaves the power button and the USB port exposed and accessible.
Reading your Kindle while inside the rooCase is for the most part easy and comfortable. Having the case does add to the thickness, perhaps even doubling it, but this is not all bad. I find it that having a thicker case can make Kindle more comfortable to hold. The back flap of the case, however, can be a bit annoying to hold when it’s fully open as it doesn’t stick firmly in a place. I’ve used a similar case made by JKase, and it had an elastic band as well as a small interior pocket inside the back cover of the case which really helped hold the Kindle in the case firmly while reading. I’ve used this case with my Kindle Paperwhite, although it can also work with the smaller “regular” Kindle. However, the fit for this smaller model is not as snug.
Overall, I like this case and would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes having the Kindle in a case constantly. It is nicely made, functional, and very affordable.
