Western Digital Desktop Performance 2 TB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Hard Drive WDBSLA0020HNC-NRSN

Screen Shot 2013-10-14 at 11.25.50 AMThis large HDD is intended for use in desktops in situations that require speedy access to large files, such as video, audio and photo manipulation and editing. However, I use it for additional storage in my Windows Home Server. It was a very easy drive to install, albeit my WHS is designed in such a way to make adding and upgrading hard drives incredibly easy. The system immediately recognized the drive and made it available to the OS. Since my version of WHS uses drive sharing, it’s hard to precisely determine how much of an overall impact this particular drive has had on the overall performance. However, since my other two drives have been filled up to capacity before this drive was inserted, I can with some certainty assume that all the large files that I have subsequently uploaded were placed on this drive. I’ve downloaded a few large HD video files (over 10 GB each) onto this drive, and have tried streaming them across my home network to various connected devices (laptops, tablets, smart TVs) in each case I was able to stream content without any hitches, which was not exactly the case before. From that standpoint I think this is definitely a very capable and fast drive, and would recommend it for almost any use.
