Teach Yourself VISUALLY OS X Yosemite
I am a big fan of Apple products, and my household uses them as the primary computer platform. I have long admired Apple’s ability to combine high value, elegant style, ease of use and high power inside a single computer product. All of these qualities are on display in Mac line of computers, the heirs to the original Macintosh computer.
Today’s Macs are a far cry from their simple predecessors from just a generation ago. They are powerful machines that can accomplish many more tasks than the average user can even conceive of. Even though they are pretty intuitive to use, they still require learning quite a few specific skills, especially if you are new to Macs or computers in general. “Teach Yourself Visually OS X Yosemite” is excellent introductory books that will help you get a better grip on the use of your Apple computer.
The book is broken down into many simple tasks, and it does not have to be read sequentially or in any particular order. It is best used as a quick reference book for when you really need to get something done with your Mac. The exposition is very easy to follow and very pedagogical. The sample of topics covered includes “Connect External Drives,” “Set Time Limits for a User,” “Remove Apps,” “Compress Files,” “Set Up FaceTime,” “Create a Custom CD,” “Identify Faces in Photos,” and many others. Most of the topics are at the beginner level, but there are a few that can be of value even to an experienced Mac veteran.
This is very beautifully designed book. Every page is glossy in full vibrant color. It is simply a pleasure to leaf through the book. No book can completely capture the brilliant vibrancy of Mac’s beautiful display, but this one comes as close as it’s possible in the printed form. All the images and screenshots are very clear and easy to read.
This is overall a very well written and well-designed book that can be of a lot of help to many new Mac users.
