Onh Amplified indoor 50 mile hdtv antenna

Screen Shot 2015-09-08 at 11.48.05 AMA few years ago I bought a nice new Toshiba flat screen TV. I’ve been cord cutting for years, and I only use it to watch movies, either on my Blu-ray player or via Netflix. The ever-escalating cable subscription costs have finally made me pull the plug on the watching the “regular” television, but every once in a while would be nice to see a live sporting event. So when the opportunity presented itself to check out this innovatively designed antenna, I took advantage of it and decided to try it out. It is a very good antenna, but your “milage” will dramatically depend on where you live. The big urban areas will probably work the bes, while the small rural or semi-rural locations will leave a lot to be desired.

My TV sits against the inner wall of my living room, and that wall would be the natural place to “mount” this antenna. However, when I first ran the channel scan with the antenna positioned near the TV I was only able to get a few channels. I decided to retest it with the antenna positioned near the outside window, some ten feet away from the TV set (it fortunately comes with a long coaxial cable), and this time I had more success. I ran the scan twice, first time detecting eight channels, and the second time twelve. Most of the channels gave me very good picture quality, but there were a couple with choppy reception.

It seems that this antenna is best suited for the urban or similar locations where the TV signal strength is relatively strong. After getting this antenna I checked the broadcast listings for my area, and in addition to listing all the channels that I should be able to receive, the website indicated that I would probably need an outdoor antenna for the best signal strength. This is unfortunate since, but it’s still fun to be able to get a few basic “regular” TV channels. I feel like I am getting back to my TV watching “roots”. 🙂
