Marsboy 15W Solar Charger with Dual USB Port

Screen Shot 2015-08-28 at 10.40.23 AMOver the past year or so I have gotten quite a few solar panel chargers and stand-alone devices. I have been duly impressed with how far the solar technology has come recently. Solar charging and solar power are now more reliable than ever, all while the price of these devices keeps falling down.

The 15 W solar charger that I got is a simple basic solar charger that allows you to charge your small electronic devices. It features two USB ports, which makes it easy to use with almost any small gadget that’s available these days.

For optimal results you should use this charger on a clear sunny day. I tried using it a couple of times on cloudy days, and was not getting much of a result. It still might be possible to use it on such days, I just have not been very persistent in trying it out.

The charger really delivered with the few devices I tested it with. I used it to fully charge my iPhone, an Android tablet, Galaxy S3 phone, a small power bank (5000 mAh) and one fairly large one (20000 mAh). For the smaller devices it took about three to four hours for them to be fully charged, while the larger ones took almost the whole day. I really prefer using this charger with power banks instead of directly plugging it into a device to be charged. This might be far less efficient mode of charging, but this way I can charge my phone even at night when the Sun is not shining. The ability to charge two different devices also comes in handy, but due to the difference in the current for the two USB ports the charging times can vary considerably.

The charger is very rugged and well built. I think it’s mostly waterproof, but I have not ventured to leave it out in a downpour – just some slight drizzle. It is lightweight, not bulky, and easy to carry around. It’s an ideal charger to have around for camping and other outdoorsy activities.
