GorillaPod Video Tripod

Screen Shot 2014-12-15 at 2.58.15 PMIf you are like me you’ve found yourself many times in a new location with a great picture or video opportunity and you wished you had a good tripod to use for the increased picture clarity. However, lugging one of those full-body tripod is never really a practical option, and the small-scale ones are usually hard to position well on elevated surfaces that you come across. Joby GorillaPod flexible tripod is an ideal solution for those sorts of situations. It is convenient and light, and the flexible legs make it easy to install and affix to almost any sort of raised surface. The magnetic attachments at the base of its legs can give you extra mounting options, although I found that they are not ideal for video shooting purposes.

What sets this GorillaPod apart from others I’ve tested is its handle meant for video shooting purposes. The handle is nicely built, although it doesn’t work as well as I would have liked. GorillaPod’s construction prevents the more finely tuned camera motions – more often than not you end up distorting the entire tripod. However, for some simple non-demanding video shooting tasks the tripod and the handle work reasonably well.

A great feature of this tripod is its portability. It can easily be attached to your camera bag and you can carry it everywhere with you.

If you are really interested in having a steady and crisp picture, I would recommend that in addition to this tripod you get a remote for your camera.

Overall, this is a pretty cool and practical product.
