Epicpod Monopod Selfie Stick

Screen Shot 2015-03-18 at 11.55.50 AMThis is a pretty convenient and lightweight camera monopod/selfie stick. It is intended for someone who primarily takes casual snapshots, but who would still appreciate a certain amount of stability for their camera. The inbuilt Bluetooth remote makes it especially easy to use this monopod while taking pictures at its fullest extent.

I’ve taken this monopod with me on a couple of hikes. It was indeed easy to carry it around as it is made out of plastic and aluminum and it’s very lightweight. In particular, if you put it in your backpack you would not even notice that it’s there. I used it with my iPhone 6 to take a few nature shots. They came through much nicer and more focused than what I am usually used to. The use of this monopod for shooting in the HDR or panorama modes is especially useful. Usually those kinds of photographs end up being very blurry for me, but with this monopod they were almost as good as the ones I take in the “regular” shooting mode.

The monopod seems pretty nice and fairly durable. In a pinch you can also mount a “regular” or even a DSLR camera on top of it, but those will dramatically compromise its stability. The monopod is ideal for casual and action photography and videography, and the included GoPro camera attachments help a lot in that regard.

The handle of the pole features a tripod mounting screw socket. This will enable you to mount this pole onto a tripod and thus greatly extend its maximum height. This is a really cool feature, although I have not used it extensively.

This is overall a very well made product that is very versatile and works as advertised for its many purposes. Highly recommended.
